About this test

ColourPersonalityTest.com is published by Senty. It is a free Big Five test with a colour palette for a result, built to be honest about what it can and cannot tell you.

Why we built it

Most colour personality quizzes make claims that research does not support. They say a favourite colour reveals your personality, or that a colour test is clinically validated. It is not true, and repeating it does not help anyone.

We wanted the opposite: a real, reliable questionnaire with public items, percentiles against a published sample, and colours used openly as labels. The IPIP items are public domain, so we can show them and explain how they are scored.

The result is a test you can check. The item pool, the norm sample, the reliability numbers and the limits are all on the science page.

How the test works

The full test uses the 50 IPIP Big Five markers, 10 per trait. The quick test uses the 20 Mini-IPIP items, 4 per trait. You answer on a 5-point scale, and some statements are reverse-scored.

Your trait averages become percentiles against 19,718 online responders from the public Open-Source Psychometrics Project dataset. Each percentile comes with an 80% likely range.

Your strongest score sets your main colour. Two close scores produce a blend, and five average scores produce an Even Spectrum. The colours are yellow (Extraversion), green (Agreeableness), blue (Conscientiousness), red (Intensity) and purple (Openness).

Our stance

This is a self-report questionnaire, not a diagnosis. Do not use it for decisions about other people, especially hiring or admissions. Personality is complex, and five numbers cannot capture a person.

We do not claim links to any commercial colour test, and we do not use trademarks of other programmes. The names of other frameworks appear on the science page only to explain why we do not use them.

The site has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics scripts. Everything is scored and stored on your device. Read the privacy page for the full picture.
